Using a combination of comet vouchers obtained at 13% discount and a friend's employee discount I can get the canon eos 30d for £656. If i was to purchase at this price would I still qualify for a £100 cashback from canon

Thanks

Both are fine cameras, but I'd go for the 30D of the two you mention (althoguh £300 for the D50 with lens is a steal). Both excel at high ISO's. Neither of the 18-55mm lenses are that great, so either get something like the 17-85IS for the Canon or the 18-70mm Nikkor for the D50.

Invest in glass.

Do agree, 30D for me from the 2 and yes invest in glass.

I'm a nikonian, but at £556 for the 30d it would be criminal not too go for it :D
Have to wait till after xmas as friend is away on holiday - hopefully price will go down further.

Hopefully I will be able to sell the supplied lens easily and purchase the 17 - 80 Is USM
