Quick question - are the terminal board connections the same between these 2 screens. I know they both have 15 pin SubD but is the PW5B only able to be used for the tuner or can it accept a video input?

    Thanks

Is this US numbers or something?

TH-50PHD5 or TH-50PHW5 are the models with component and AV (composite and s-video) input as well as VGA.

TH-50PHD5B or TH-50PHD5BX (or TH-50PHW5B or TH-50PHW5BX) means British edition, also to be seen are TH-50PHD5E or TH-50PHD5X and other letters too; this part of the code signifies country. If it doesn't say B or BX at the end it probably means that it's imported from European mainland, and will have different warrenty conditions.

Additionall, TH-50PHD5 or TH-50PHW5 with letter D or W means colour of bezel, where D is black and W is silver and A means silver with speakers.

Finally, TH-42PHD6 vs TH-42PW6 is resolution where H means High Definition and absence of H means Standard Definition.

    Therefore code is:

    TH-[screensize]P[resolution][bezel-colour][generation][country]

I think the P is for PAL, T is for television, H is for plasma (x for CRT or LCD).

The Tuner option usually says Tuner in the name, e.g. TH-50PHW5-Tuner

I'd suggest that one is of British origin and the other is German.

...but any screen can accept tuner card or video card, so either can do both.

Sorry lads - was typing in the last minute countdown to leaving work so I apologise for not being very explicit. I was referring to the 5 series Panasonic panels, should have put the full designations as 42PW5BX and the 42PWD5 but have had my rather stupidly phrased question answered.

    Thanks all.
