I've only watched a few late night on channel 4, can never remember the names either, some were absolutely fantastic.

Some good recent ones include:

Devdas
Asoka
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham
Lagaan (Oscar nominated)

And not forgetting Sholay, a classic from 1975 widely considered to be one of the finest bollywood movies made.

That sounds like the Asian flick "Asoka" - a kind of Asian version of "Gladiator", of sorts.

Asoka is quite a good flick. A bit of a departure from the normal formulaic bollywood films. Still has plenty of song and dance routines though
