Got this today. Only my second music DVD. Cunning Stunts by Metallica being the first. The sound quality is fantastic its DTS and for the first time I can truly say it feels almost like being there! Yes IMHO its that good. I've only played half of it but it was absolutely amazing. If you are a Queen fan and have DTS then you really must check this out. Only downer is that you get reminded that Freddie is no longer with us. Has there ever been a better entertainer?

Yes, it's a fantastic DVD. I haven't see all of it yet, but I agree, the DTS sound is superb. You forget that the concert was 17 years ago!! Freddie was in fine form, and I still miss him. I grew up listening to Queen, and I can still remember where and when I first bought / heard most of the albums.

I got Queen II for £1.99 in Woolworths in 1975, because someone had swapped the plastic sleeve over, and it had the wrong price on it!

Watched it 3 times (entire concert on each occasion) in less than a week!

    Says it all really!

    SUPERB DVD

    Excellent pic & DTS sound.

Agree with Ally, it does feel like you're there, slap bang in the middle of the crowd.

Can't understand why some Queen fans on the Queen Forums are not happy with the pic or DTS sound.
It looks and sound fantastic on my system.

A worthy purchase even if you only have a 'passing interest' in Queen.

I would just like to add....that i finally got to watch it today.....had it for about 4 days, but been a bit busy....and i would have to agree with everything, that has been said, so far.......when iwas driving home from work this morning, i thought maybe i should get on here and start a thread about just how good this disk sounds.......and you beat me to it........

It has got to be, by far the best sounding disk i have in my collection.....and the only disk i have ever felt surrounded with the sound.

    Fan-bloody-tastic.

In fact, i cannot put into words, just how amazed i was, listerning to this.

I wish more of my disk's sounded this good.

    Extras are quite good too.

You even get to change camera angles in the 'Queen Cams' feature on a few songs. Novel, but couldn't sit through the whole show doing this.

I wonder how many Queen fans there are on this forum...?
Kevo, something gives it away about you, I can't quite put my finger on it...:D

I wouldn't class myself as a fan, a casual fan yes, but defo not a die hard. Though I did have a tear in my eye last year when I went to see We Will Rock You...it starts with Freddy's sillouhette up against the curtain. And I have been known to stand in front of a TV screen and clap to Radio Ga Ga on VH1 on a Friday night/Saturday morning after more than my fair share of Romulan Ale...  :rotfl:

My one big regret in life is the fact that I never saw Queen live on stage. A mate of mine went to see them but I couldn't make it 'cos of work commitments :( For the next few weeks all I heard about was "Freddie this and Freddie that" - what I would give to be able to turn the clock back !

I was fortnate enough to have seen them live six times.
The best being their very last live performance at Knebworth in 1986.

It sounds like I may have to upgrade my laserdisc copy. What is the picture quality like?

It will go nicely with my Freddie Solo DVD.

BTW it is not Freddy, unless you have been to Elm Street lately.

agree witrh all. Very impressed with it, especially after the dire NTSC DVD I got a couple of years ago.
Anyone else find it strange that there is no Dolby Digital 5.1 option for sound.!!
Picture is very good for the age.

    Definately one to keep.:)

Is there a DD 2.0 track? DTS requires either DD 5.1 or DD 2.0 or both on the disc with the DTS.

I would thought DD 5.1 would be on the disc though.

I'm another massive fan, and have been since I first got into music as a kid. I don't mind admitting I shed buckets when Freddie died, and it took me ages to live with the fact that there would never be another new Queen album. Of course, Made In Heaven turned up, which was probably their best album for years, but it wasn't a patch on the classics. I have been hoping for years now that some 'new' live material would be released. The Live At Wembley DVD is brilliant, but wouldn't it be nice to have something we haven't seen before?

The PCM stereo is the DD 2.0 bit. Obviously, this track is used for going through the TV but you will need DTS for surround sound.

To be honest I felt like I was watching something different, with the pic qulaity, DTS sound mix and the addition of about 10 songs which have never been on any previous version.

    RE: DD 5.1

Queen (esp. Brian May) prefer DTS to DD 5.1.

However their has been a recent petition/poll in favour of including a DD5.1 soundtrack to be included on future DVDs.
Whether QP will take heed is another story.

90% of the songs are the same. They are even done in the same order.

The additional songs, Freddie banter, removal of naf FX make the DVD superior and different to any other version.

    Can't say I agree there.

Japan 82, 85 and Wembley 86 tracklist differ considerably.

    Wanna trade?

I have several rare VHS and SVHS recordings.
Looking for SVHS/VHS transfers of the Japan Concerts LDs.

Most of the 'additional' songs on the LAW DVD were available on the 'Live In Budapest' video, which accompanied the 'Live Magic' CD, back in 1986, and also appeared on the LAW Double CD.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about LAW, it's fantastic, but wouldn't it be great to have, say, the Milton Keynes show, which is broadcast occasionally in a hacked version on Channel 4 and VH1, or the Earls Court shows from 1977? Now THAT would be a kind of magic!

Hey .. I was there to. I was wearing a T-shirt and jeans. Do you remember seeing me?

Seriously, a great gig. I was about 20 rows from the front just off to the right of centre.

Milton Keynes yes, but never been that kean on Earls Court (from a technical point if view). Badly filmed and edited.

I was only 17 when I saw them at Knebworth and will never forget seeing 130,000 people (I think) clapping Radio Ga Ga - Fantastic. Still going on about it 17 years later. Still got the T-Shirt (which still fits - just ) and Ticket stub and now a great DVD.

My copy of LAW dvd arrived this morning and after reading through this thread i can't wait to watch it!

I hope they do release more Queen concerts soon. The ones i'd like to see in their entirety include Houston 77 and Hammersmith Odeon 79.

One concert i doubt will get an official release is Caracas, Venezuela 81 - it was filmed by local tv using only three or four cameras right directly in front of the stage so there are no distant band shots, just a load of shaky close ups!

Got it Friday I think. Watched it Saterday night. Incredible! I've seenit on TV a few times. i was too young to do concerts and things while freddie was alive :( But the DVD is amazing, a heck of a lot better than the TV version.

The thing about them knocking down the two towers was quite good too. They certainly speak their minds! "Satisfy some crap architect's ego" or something to that effect :)

Came today - picci and sound are pretty top notch. However, no excuse for a 4.3 version in this day and age...
