I'm looking to replace my near 2 year old Yamaha RX-V995. I want high quality sound in both 2ch and 5.1 DD/DTS. Even in 5.1 mode I care more about the receiver/amps ability with the musical score and the subtleties of the ambient sound rather than brute force and impact.

The Denon 3801 looks great value for money, but I don't really care about the EX/ES modes.

The Arcam AVR100 sounds ideal for me, I can BI-Amp if I need more power and it would look very nice with a Arcam DVD player on top of it.

I have booked a test session with AudioT tomorrow so that I can compare the 2. I can't wait. [IMG]
