We’ve had a Bose 500 Homespeaker for a few years. The sound quality is excellent for such a small box. We use it as a standalone internet radio. Mostly we listen to our local BBC radio station, and…..Classic FM. I stream Qobuz on something else for my two channel stuff.

Now the BBC have pulled our local radio off Tunein, we’ve tried Alexa and Google assistants and tried to teach it the BBC commands but it just never works. Cannot get BBC Sounds on it, and I don’t think the Bose has Chromecast. BBC have recently changed their flavour of chromecast, so some devices are no longer supported.

Having given up on this, what great sounding smart speaker do you recommend that will give us internet radio, and BBC Sounds to get our local station? Naim is too pricy but £300-500 max is possible, but cheaper with great sound will be even better.

Thanks

I’m a little confused my Alexa dot , show , etc plays local bbc Radio via bbc sounds without any issues ..

I would suggest therefore an Alexa echo studio

BBC sounds works fine on the Bose, it has Chromecast built in
