Quality of 360 through a widescreen monitor?

Hi All,
I have my 360 at the mo pumping through my massive 17" 4:3 monitor (1280x1024), and I am going to upgrade this to the Samsung SM225BW 22" widescreen monitor (1680 x 1050) after Christmas. Anyway, as the 360 does not have that as a native resoultion, what is the quality of the picture going to be through VGA? I have heard some people say that it looks slightly soft. Is this correct??

The native res of my screen is 1440x900 or something like that and I run it at 720p through component and it looks fine so dont worry.
