Quality difference between SP & LP

    When I used to have an analogue camcorder, I never recorded in LP mode because of the deterioration in quality.

    However, does the same apply with digital camcorders?

    As a digital recording is just made up of loads of 1's and 0's, surely the quality should be the same whether you use SP or LP?

    If this is the case, why do we have SP and LP modes on digital camcorders?

    LP is not guaranteed to play back in another camcorder, only in the one it is recorded in. You are correct - quality is the same, also the recoding time is not double (mini DV) - I think it was 50% extra.
