I see satellite superstore do this for £499, anywhere cheaper ??
remember that hd1 and co are going to mpeg4, so this box has a limited shelf-life.
why not wait a few months for some hidef mpeg2 & 4 receivers to come out ?
I will if it also decodes 4.2.2 feeds like the quali
I got my QS1080IR from Spain think the company was called ANTNET Digital and it cost around £300.00 including the Euro1080 viewing card.
No good for 4.2.2 feeds I think this one ?
From Quali ??
I use this box for Mpeg2 4:2:2 Feeds and it works fine.
The only thing it did not have was a CI slot.
The models that support 4:2:2 is the QUALI-TV QS1080IR, QS1080IRCI. When they released the QS1080IR they did not know it supported 4:2:2 and there was a problem with picture but a software update fixed that.
So with the update you still get 4.2.2 ? No good for HD1 then without a card slot ? What was the total from Spain ?
So it is the fact ALL HD channels will go MPEG 4 ? I suppose no forthcoming mpeg4 commercial box will be good for Sky's HD channels either ?
Euro 1080 have announced all of their HD-1-HD-5 channels will be MPEG4, but that MPEG2 will continue until 2007 for HD-1 (I think that was the date)
I wouldn't bank on a non-Sky MPEG4 box working with Sky's service - though it is now possible to use non-Sky MPEG2 boxes with a certain CAM for their SD service these days. (With a valid subscription card - this is not a piracy thing)
Certain cam ??! Tell me more PM if you want
The QS1080IR Has Smart Card Slot Which will alow you to watch Euro1080.
The QS1080IRCI Has A CI Slot and A Smart Card Slot.
The Cost From Spain Including Shipping Was 594 Euro which is £364 don't know if the price has gone up or down.
Thanks for info, I see 4 going for £259 brand new on ebay at the moment, I may buy one but perhaps I should wait and see if the forcoming mpeg version will also support 4.2.2... I'm running out of room here!
