I have used big speakers in my little room for movies, now I want to try speaker with single bass driver. My other choice are B&W 705 and PMC TB2 but since both of these aren't closed box design my first choice is Quad L in disgn respect. Today I feel like this is my first day in AV land because I never used this Make before. So here is My FAQ.
    1) Where does this Make stands in Build Quality and Performance compare to B&W and Kef.
I will appreciat your help Guys. cheers.

Why do you not want a reflex designed speaker

Becuase I think sealed box gives better slam and reflex design increase boom in my room, well it is based upon my past experience.

To answer your original question, the Quads build and finish are great for the price and they also sound great. Are they better than the B&W etc, it depends on your ears.

Falp is correct, the Quads are reflex speakers.

But if room size is an issue, front port is better than rear port... so are bookshelves over standmoundters.

However I heard the Quad 11L and I think 20 to 30 cm from rear wall are OK...

Have to agree with Falp on this, I have a pair of 11L's on stands and theyre 20cm from the wall. Bass is not boomy at all and clarity is excellant. Have to say though the 11's arent really big on bass so if you do want a bit more slam the12's might be better. The finish on them is also the best I saw at that price.

I've only heard the Quads once to be honest; I liked them, but a little laid back for my tastes. I would imagine that if you heard them side by side you'd find the PMCs more aggressive, but don't be mistaken, by aggressive I don't mean "rawer"...they are very smooth speakers, with a superb treble. Put it this way, as soon as I'd heard them I decided those were the ones for me:)

That said, I've just been offered a stonking deal on some new B&W Nautilus 805s:eek:

the signatures may be good but the standard ones are very lacklustre sounding imo. some 5 year old Jamo Concert 8s filled the room with a much more musical and lively sound at a third of the price

Last week I listened at home the Quad 12L and sound clean and warmth,

its bass was simply prodigious: fast and controlled,

its treble was clear and clean, with amazing clarity and detail, with a amazing recognize the beauty of instruments and almost perfect with vocals

The imaging was executed with precision and there was good depth to the sound stage too,

by this I´m going to buy it

I´ll buy a NAD 763 for they too

    Greetings

    Hi Druida,
Did you listen to the Quads with the NAD 763? I am deciding between a Integrated amp or a AV amp with Quad speakers. Did you do a comparison between the 2?

    Hi Druida,
I finally got my Quad 21Ls and man..they r simply gorgeous - looks and sound. Amazing speakers. Very fast and transparent. Unfortunately listening to old cassettes is a bit of a problem - because they show up the tape hiss.
I have read i other forums that some one had a lean sound with these speakers and NAD. I believe that person must have got the polarity wrong while connecting the cables. I loved the Audio Physic Yaras too..but cannot justify the extra $700 when comparing to these speakers.

Quad 21Ls are simply phenomenal value for money
