    Hi,

We have narrowed down our choice of home cinema/music speakers to two alternatives - either the Quad L series (12L/11L/center/subwoofer) or a mixture of Dynaudio audience (52s/42center/42s rear) and probably Quad L subwoofer.

Our mix is approximately 70% home cinema, 30% music and the rest of the system is an Arcam DV88 DVD/CD player and Arcam AVR300 receiver.

We already have some Dynaudio 52s for a hi fi setup elsewhere in the house - but apart from greater familiarity with Dynaudio speakers we are unable to choose which is going to be the better set of speakers to purchase.

Your views on these two combinations would be much appreciated - which is likely to prove the better all round setup for our needs?

    Best Regards,

    Brian

You will probably get two lots of answers as the Quad owners will tell you how good their Quad setup is and the Dynaudio owners will do likewise and neither answer will help you.

I have only ever heard Quad and Dynaudio at hifi shows and both made impressive sounds. Both will serve you well as home cinema speakers so you need to try and listen to them both in music mode to see whether one or the other suits your own set of ears more.

If the look and finish of the speakers counts for anything the Dynaudio won't win any beauty prizes whilst the Quad probably would.
