Not heard or seen them but they look to be ideal for me. I've got a pair of 11L's on my hifi but don't have space in my living room for the full size L package. I'd be interested to know how these compare for music to my 11L's.

That seems to be the nice option... these ones for rears in a small room... ;)

But no Maple or Bird's Eye Maple finish... :(

What's the rest of your system?

Yeah, shame about no Maple as that's what my 11L's are, typical. I have a Rotel RA-01 and RCD-02 on my Quad's but this system is upstairs as I don't have room for it in the living room.

My AV system is a Rotel RSX-1056 and RDV-1060 (bit of a Rotel thing going on!) but the speakers are Missions FS2-AVs. They are the last bit of legacy from my original AV system which was a Pioneer 535 DVD and Denon 1602. I quite like the FS2's as they're not as directional as normal speakers but I know they're holding the Rotel back although not as much as you may think. It still sounds pretty damn good and I find it slightly better than the upstairs system thanks to the amp.

Unfortunately the FS2's are the perfect size for the room so anything I replace them with has to be small or it would just look stupid and take over the room (my rules as well as the wifes!). Even 4 Quad 11L's, a Quad centre and subwoofer would be too much. However, the new L-ites may be acceptable but they would have to be a close match to the 11L's for music to justify spending the money. I did briefly consider B&W FPM's until I saw the price (£600 per speaker!!).

Yah... I think the L-ites should be great for your rears... and maybe for me too!

And for a small room a REL Quake is very good! Or the new BK Gemini...

Cheers, I'll try and check out those subs as well. I'll have to find a local dealer that stocks the Quads too and get a demo.

Saw and heard the Quad L-ites being demonstrated at last week's What Hi-Fi show.

Very impressive with both music and movies although we thought they could have cranked up the bass a little more.

Good value although I don't think you'll beat the £999.99 price anywhere.

Also you can add additional speakers for 6:1 and 7:1

Are they available on pairs?

A 11L + Lcenter + L-ite system would be nice...

Heard these playing at the best of stuff show this weekend and must say i was very impressed, infact im twisting the wifes arm to change my current keff cresta 2 setup as its long over due for a upgrade.
My only real problem is would this speaker pack run ok on my current amp a yamaha rx-v650.

Does anyone know what the sub is like? I currently have a PSB Sub Zero which is a leftover from a previous package. The sub I have is 'ok' but seems a little out of control at times Can you buy the sub on its own and do you know if the birds eye maple will be available at any point?

Thanks guys.

Superfi are advertising these as "coming soon" and have the full package, just 2 satellites or just the sub listed so it looks like you will be able to pick and choose. Having said that, I've not seen the centre advertised on it's own yet. I hope they do eventually release them in maple, perhaps we should start a campaign?

I'll probably not be able to buy these until next year now so have not been for a demo but it's encouraging to hear that they sound good with movies and music/

As for the finish why not ask QUAD directly?

Good point, I've just sent them an e-mail so will post back here when (if) I get a response.
No news yet on the finish, or price (pair)?

Nothing yet. It seems that sending companies e-mail is a waste of time if you're in a hurry. I've never known anybody get back to you quickly. The only contact details on Quad's website were for the service department but you'd think they'd have passed it on. Check out http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo-2.cfm/Product_ID/2479 for pictures of each colour option. Still no price details for anything other than the full package though.

Tman, how did the demo go?

The L-ites were reviwed in What Hi-Fi a couple of months ago and they raved about them, not just for surround sound but also for stereo.

They let me down on the demo in the end :(
And every shop ive spoke to keeps telling me they cant even get them yet.
Im not even sure that they have been released now from what sevenoaks have told me.
Has anyone actualy seen them for sale yet in uk?

Only seen them on the internet. The sites never seem to say whether they hold stock or not so could just be early advertising.

Im still toying with the idea of going for the short genies instead of these i know the quads are a different league but i would be able to cut the stet up costs after stands ect from £1100 to £750 and the genies are more wife friendly.

The Gramophone classical music mag reviewed the Quad L-ite package in the Jan 2006 issue and raved about them for both music and movies (could this be because this mag and What HiFi belong to the Haymarket publishing stable?). Anyway, what I read has certainly got me interested ... and if an extra £1000 dropped into my lap, I'd probably go audition them ASAP!
