Unlike many mainstream brands, such as Sony, Technics etc, so-called 'real Hi-Fi' equipment is generally not sold by mail order vendors, only at Hi-Fi shops, who rarely offer discounts. I do not require the services that a Hi-Fi shop can offer (demonstrations, equipment loans, equipment installation etc.) so I do not want to pay their sizeable slice of the retail price - does anyone know how I might be able to purchase the following brand new Quad Hi-Fi electronics (http://www.quad-hifi.co.uk/) at (hopefully substantially) discounted prices?

    99CD Player
    99Pre
    909 Power

    TIA.

The only ones that spring to mind are the ex-dem ones selling "open box" product.

I'm not entirely sure I understand what you mean  , but I am after brand new, sealed box items.

    Thanks for the reply.

I suspect you might struggle as the quantities of Quad product aren't very large which does affect the level of discount on offer. Many dealers are open to negotiation depending on what you are after and might discount but I'd suggest you didn't talk about the "sizable slice of the retail price" to do this. After all, if anything does happen to the product, these will be the people you need to go back to for repairs etc.

The website I suggested was www.ex-dem.co.uk which frequently offers as new product as reduced prices. It will have been out of the box beforehand though.
