I have the Kef Q7 5.1 cinema setup and have always thought the Q9 centre was a bit of a weak link and sometimes struggle to follow dialogue. Anyone got experience of the new iQ6C centre and whether it is a worthwhile upgrade from the Q9??? Also will it match well with the Q7 and Q2DS rears???

    Hi Russ,

I too am concerned with the performance of my Q9c, and am looking to upgrade to the iQ6c. My friendly local kef dealer has told me I can home dem one if I call in to see him tomorrow, so I'll be there at 9.00am waiting for them to open in the morning. :D
I hope i can let you know how it performs in a day or three!!

    Regards,

    Dishdoc

    hi all,

Well, I collected the iQ6c from my dealer, got it home and set it up on the rack. First impressions are very good indeed, but haven't had a chance to properly 'road test' it, as it were. I'll post again in a couple of days.

    Regards,

    Dishdoc

Cheers Dishdoc  , be very interested in your thoughts. I have a Yamaha RXV2400 so should get similar results. Will have to try and find a friendly local KEF dealer (made a long trip to buy originally as got a great deal).

    Russ,

Hi mate, still got the bloody thing! Not paid for it yet - but there not getting it back!! :D

Well tbh I;ve been really busy lately so I have'nt really sat down and scrutinised - BUT. . . It is so much better than the Q9c, not great at describing but the dialogue just seems to be more clear and more pronounced.
Even with my iQ9's they bully their way through to present a very confidant performance. :smashin:

Trying to get my dealer to take my q9c as part ex, if he does'nt i will try and shift it on here, still a great centre, just not good enough for large rooms with top of the range ( Q7 / iQ9 ) fronts imo

Hope this helps mate, let me know!

    Best Regards,

    Dishdoc

    Hi,

I've read the IQ6c is a bass-reflex speaker (that's rather unusual, they're typically sealed boxes). Is the port in the rear? If so, does it put out a lot of air? I ask this because my setup doesn't leave a lot of room between the back of the centre speaker and the wall.

    Thanks.

    Hello..

While I dont really have anythign to compare it to I am also running the iQ9's iQ6C and iQ3's and the quality of sound IMO is brilliant.

Clear, sharp and to the point with oddles of ommpf as well.

Could not really ask for more and the iQ9's with music are pretty damn good as well.

    Hope this helps,

    Alastair
