Seen the odd thread here and there about problems with using the VGA cable - downloads not doing / (not) easy swop between 50/60 Hz etc

Usually the answer has been (as far as I noticed anyway) to swap back to RGB or component, do whatever, then swap back...

BUT - is there a way round these problems if you only have the option of using the VGA lead?

Reason for asking - about to set up my 360 to an oldish monitor I've snagged from work :)
Obviously the VGA is the only way to connect to it :)

Worst case, I could lug the 360 back into the living room, hook it up to the TV via component, then take it back to my study when done - but this is obviously less than ideal! :(

    Any pointers gratefully received! :D

I had the component lead and then replaced it with the vga, ive got oblivion which is 60hz only and ive had no problems and not had to switch anything. I think you should be allright.

You just need to set the console itself to Pal 60 once, and then plug the VGA back in and forget about it. Make it the first thing you do and then you shouldn't have to worry about it again. :smashin:

Exactly. The PAL refresh rate must be checked by some games even if your using VGA.
