    Hello,

I have a DV27A, the remote works very sluggishly, esp. when playing CD:s..
Its almost like you have to press each button three time before the player wakes up.

I there a firmware update that will cure this or is this normal?

I tried new batteries, the OneForAll remote and a Linn remote. All behaves nasty.
I tried different remote settings in the setup screen to no avail.

I don't know which firmware version I currently have because the numbers dissapear before I get a chance to read them. Any thoughts from the forum?

The IR receiver on the DV27a is useless, I also have a C30 preamp and I can use the DV27a remote to control the volume, it works great with the C30.

How does the 27A behave with backup copies. My 4 years old daughter's movies must be backed-up or they only last 1 month and its back to DVD shop.

See my thread on the Arcam remote controls.

Re the other problem with the DVD. I also have a DVD called Bleachers Bums (Baseball comedy) which also jumps to screensaver after the initial film screen. It plays normally after pressing play a second time. This DVD plays ok in all other players.

    Must be a firmware thing.

    Gerald. :)

I like the remote and operation with the DV27a.

I like the Arcam remotes in general, even though I'm in the minority. :)

I never had any problems on my old DV27 or now on my new 27a.

The 27a has ver 5.13 on it.

Guy is your DV27a directly in front of the sitting position or at an angle?. Mine is behind me and to the left. Pointing the remote directly at the Arcam doesn't work (1.5M distance and about 30º angle), I have to get out of my chair and walk to the other side of the room so that the remote is level and at a 90º angle to the face plate of the player. By comparison exactly the same remote adjusting the volume on my Arcam C30 I can simply point it at my projector screen and it will bounce off and work perfectly.

    I see your problem.

You're right, mine's directly in front, so no 'going round corners' for me. :)
