    Hi

I've been waiting nearly 2 months now for a Q Acoustics 1010i 5.1 system (because the wife wants the darker wood!).

However, I have come across their Q-AV system and given the layout of my lounge they might be a better (if slightly more expensive) option.

I'm struggling to find any user experience of them. Has anybody bought some?!

    Chris

I'm beginning to wonder if anybody has bought them :)
Perhaps I could be the first.

I am pressuming you mean the new QAV system. This is not going to be out until mid to late February.

Regarding your 1010i 5.1, we have had them in for some time now. We sold our initial batch pre Christmas and we have had a new delivery late last week with more expected later this month.

All colours are in and they are all with the new subwoofer.

That might explain why I can't find any reviews!

I saw and heard this demo'd in Bristol yesterday and thought it sounded and looked amazing for the price (about £600 retail). It's very versatile, and whilst you might think putting the 3 LCR speakers together might blur the sounds and lose any channel separation, it certainly didn't sound it. There's some clever engineering that's gone into the bracket that supports them, so that it will match anything from a 37" to a 50" TV. And because it makes the speaker look part of the TV, by increasing the "height" of the screen and speaker, it seems to reduce the screen size....so that you can persuade your other half that a 50" is actually not that big after all....

The sub (deliberately) looks more like a radiator or wall fixture than a sub, although it can be floor positioned as well.

In a busy hotel, kinda difficult to pick up subtlety, but if you have an average sized room, and the requirement to keep the speakers discrete, this is a well-designed system that's got to be worth taking a look at. I suspect this is going to be a very big seller for Q Acoustics, given the clever design and the very affordable price point.

I was also impressed..so much so I bought a set! The room at the Bristol show was long with a high ceiling and yet still sounded very impressive with no 'hot'spots'.

I was also impressed with the QAVs at Bristol, although not as much as I was impressed with the Kef 3005SE's! I like the idea of the QAV in that everything is hidden away, but from my point of view, I want my speakers on show. Also the sub looked awful - they apparently tried to make it look like a radiator! Each to their on looks, but they did sound very good watching flags on our fathers with True HD.

The latest WHF mag has reviewed them and spunked all over their laptop screens while typing their 5 star rating. :D

    Hello...

I was just hunting round for what people think of the Q-Acoustics Q-AV 5.1 system. We are currently installing this system into a mates TV room, its going to look good, but not heard it yet. So lets hope it sounds good!

His TV room build can be found in the "Home Cinema Construction and Configuration" --> "Home Cinema DIY". Or click here.

    Cheers, JD.
