Hi

I need some advice on my set up Q Accoustic 1010 i 5.1 with an Onkyo 876

They are positioned in a corner of room 1m apart either side of 32 inch TV
about 450 mm high standing on TV stand room size 4.5m x 4.4 m x 2.5m high

even in stereo they are poor absolutely no bass when playing through Sonos preamp
or Pioneer Blu ray player

I have tried every set up and no real bass even using the Subwoofer

Any thoughts do i need to upgrade or maybe a better sub

Have you got both drivers connect (i.e. the bridging bars that would be removed if you biwired)?
I've been told they are a bit light on the base though

did you not listen to them before buying them
all very small speakers have limited bass , unless expensive or active designs
or change the L/R speakers to the 2020i these have good bass for the size

The bass is perfectly fine on this system if you set the sub up correctly.

I have a 1010i 5.1 speaker package as well. From memory, the bookshelf speakers handle audio frequencies down to about 70 Hz, and the Centre speaker handles down to 75 Hz.

On your receiver, go into the speaker config menu and set the crossover frequency for all the speakers. These values shouldn't be any lower than the numbers I specifiec above - I'd recommend you set them all to 80 Hz.

Once you've done that, the receiver should start to filter low end frequencies to the subwoofer.

You will still need to fine tune the level output for the subwoofer on both the receiver and subwoofer itself.

The crossover frequency dial on the subwoofer should also be set as high as it will go. Otherwise, it could interfere with the crossover settings you've made on the receiver.

The bridging bars that Mr Andy referred to do not exist on the 1010i speakers. Only the larger models have those.

I don't think there are any on this model

one dealer has mentioned they must go on stands which i am reluctant to do

I did demo them with a Onkyo 605 at Audio T it seemend to work great with a denon bluray player listening to Casino Royale and Xmen 1

would like to change to a sub sat system which may be worse

I wonder if its the Amp ive tried 6 ohm that seemed worse now eq with 4 ohm
