Lets say my better half leaves a DVD paused for half an hour or so like she is used to do with our CRT. Will I be able to configure the PWD8 to jump into a screen saver mode to prevent damage to my beautifull, shiny, new luminofors ?

I don't think so Koti, I would train her to put the screen in stand by at the same time.

I like to anticipate everything :) Seems that some training will have to be done. My DVD does not have a screen saver option by the way...but its a realy crappy Sony unit, one of those realy cheap ones and I guess I have to invest in a new DVD player/recorder anyways.
    Thanks all.

Koti, you're right. Better to invest some dosh in a new DVD player than suffer the dreaded burn. And better than that, the new purchase can be justified under "wife-prevention" ;) :D
