The price difference is about £300, is the PWD8 worth the extra dosh?

    HD I'm not bothered about.

    Thanks for any advice

pwd8 can take component signal through its on board vga terminal so no need to buy a component board. Use of the HDMI board in it..you may not be bothered about HD sky but what about using hdmi input for other sources, dvd, xbox360 etc.

Other than that i'm not sure, but i have a pwd8 and can vouch for the fact that it is an excellent panel!

Are you running component through the on board vga on your screen? Is there any difference in quality compared with a component board and would I need one of those JS jobbies to do it?

with the 8 series you don't need a js box to connect component to vga (you do for scart to vga) I have connected by both component to component board and component to vga with my dvd and don't think there is a difference.
The PW7 is a great screen but for the sake of £300 I would go 8 series, as mentioned above you may be interested in some form of HD in the future, it a very small price to pay for an element of future proofing.

Is it £300 cheaper when you sit down and work out everything you need?

The PW8 can be had for a good price in the special offer secion of this forum with stand etc. included.

I'm new to this forum and I'm not sure where the special offer section is? I looked under Plasma Power Buy Special Offers but this just has Wall mount brackets am I missing something?

I will probably go for the PWD8 its right HD maybe a consideration in the future.

So to use the vga port for component its just a cable?

Yep, just what they call a VGA breakout cable, with a VGA socket at one end, and 3 cables at the other. Here's and example. Also check out the AVForums AV-Links section here for various website where you can buy these sort of cables.

    Cheers
