Bentalls in Kingston have the new 37" and 42" PW7 screens on display and ready for delivery - £2,200 and £2,500 respectively.

They looked good, but impossible to compare to the PW6 withough seeing them set up properly.

That's like £500 more expensive than what AVsales are asking.

    Leigh,

Bentalls do have a price match policy, but they wouldnt match Nexnix when I bought my PWD6. They currently want £2k for the PWD6 with an Svideo terminal board -not too bad for the high street.

    Late night shopping on Thursday.

Was the PW7 setup with a tuner box, as they don't generally sell a screen on its own do they ?

Screen only. They had the 37" and the 42" hung one above the other, both showing the same (Freeview) source.

They were in the 'demo' area so will often have a DVD playing through them instead.

Went to bentalls last night and had a look at the pannys on display, Sky looked pretty good from the sky+ box via scart (no idea if it was RGB, they couldnt find the remote) It had been left on discovery home and leisure, with the whopping logo on it, no idea how long it had been displaying it, but there were no signs of image retention when i changted channels, and the brightness and contrast were high, which i turned down ;)

Played a DVD on a panny player via scart again couldnt find out if it was RGB or not unfortunately. Played the opening of MIB where the camera pans up to a night sky, and the blacks were VERY black, just like my CRT i would say.

Overall i wasnt 100% impressed with it, but then i couldnt check out the settings on it unfortunately, i would certainly demo a properly setup one first before splashing out on one.

The sky image was how i expected, but the DVD image was very similar to the sky image, at which i was slightly disappointed, but im guessing this is just down to the way they had it setup.

The AV department in Bentalls, Kingston is not actually Bentalls although I am not exactly sure of their relationship with Bentalls if it is just floor space or T&C too. Maybe this is why they do not price match? Also, from what I remember, the Bentalls price match policy was only for goods purchased 'locally'. I use to find the goods cheaper in JL next door and get Bentalls to price match, then pay on CC. Now JL take CC, they get most of my business.
