ok so bit of a strange question, but due to upgrades and impulse buying i now have:

    • [*]42 inch pw6 done 160 hrs
      [*]37 inch pw7 done 150 hrs[*]42 inch pw8 done 141 hrs

question is.... which do i keep??

ideally i want a black display... which only the pw6 has, however i would be willing to get the 8 sprayed as its a gloss black like the pioneers im after more than the charcoal...think this costs about £50 from bf interactive near me!

and no its not an option to get rid of all 3 for a 50 inch or a PHD or pioneer etc as at the moment i dont want that much money tied up in a plasma

i estimate the values at around:
    pw6- 750
    pw7- 700
    pw8- 900/950

so my question is... is it worthwhile keeping the pw8 at the extra cost or should i just stick with a solid pw6 and bank a few hundred quid?

or as i have got a new projector now should i just get rid of the 42s and keep the 37 and bank a little more?

    any comments / suggestions welcome!

oh and theres only space for one screen in the bedroom!

I reckon your estimate for the PW8 is a little optimistic as a new one is 1080. Personally speaking I'd have the PW8 as you're maybe talking about £200 notes between PW6 and PW8. And if you want a bespoke shiny black finish then the PW8 is the one to keep; spraying it might adversely impact future resale value though...

or then again it may be worth more to someone else who would like a gloss black one to go with their decor? woiuld have to wait and see on that one i guess. pw8 is unregistered for warranty and with minimal hours and a board so i think it could be ok,

Which do u think is better in regards to PQ?

I found the PW6 alot better then the PW7 using the VGA input and a decent source

Have a look, see which one has the better pic, and keep it!

If you can't tell a difference, keep the 8-series because the HDMI option will actually work even if it won't be displaying HD with full resolution.

Get a good progressive source and test them using the same inputs. The vga input on the pw6 is fantastic

at the moment i have just hooked up the playstation via composite on both, because it was easy!

however i may lie them down on the floor next to eachother and run the pc through vga and see what i think, or even swap the component board into the 8 and see how that looks from my pio 575

immediate thoughts were that the 8 looks a bit more vibrant with the colours but then that could just be the menu settings which i have not yet tweeked

liam, with regards to the hdmi does this mean that its hd comp and will just scale down the hd to make it more 'defined' than normal tv but not quite hd?

no tecchy answers please as i wont understand them!

    keep the comments coming guys!

Not sure I would recommend lying the plasmas on the floor!

Save yourself monkeying around and keep the 8.

And that's exactly what I mean r.e. HD. The screen will accept the signal and downscale (which gives a sublime image anyway!) whereas the 6 and 7 won't even accept the image digitally.

i think your estimates are bit high, PWD6 isnt worth £750 IMO not as a bare panel, but i suggest you keep the 8 sell the other 2 and try to calm down (ideal time to flog em stick the cash in an ISA till this time next year then sell the PWD8 and get a 50"

lol @ calm down, i have acquired these over a few months... the 6 was an upgrade to the 7(well size wise) and i just have not really got round to selling it, and the 8 was more the impulse buy this week!

well im an accountant now and were meant to be boring not impulsive.. and i have got my ISA all sorted but definitley good advice!

with a bnc / rgb card or both i think it will go on here for a decent price- as its almost new and the last couple in the classifieds got alot of interest

everyone seems to be swinging towards the 8- i guess because its more future proof.

a 50 would be nice but like i said dont really want that much tied up in a screen as im only 20 and will soon need cash to go towards a deposit on a house.

i think keeping the 8 is the best bet, but even selling all 3 wont put much a of dent in a deposit, it may not even cover the costs of buying so dont bank on it too much

again very true, but it will definitely be where im putting the money, house is going to be a buy to let thing with a friend of mine who is considerably more well off (ie. loaded) who is giving me the opportunity to get onto the market with him, on the condition that i do the leg work as he is busy running his company

so that plus a bit of savings and pay going up steadily at work while im becoming more qualified should be ok!

anyway back on the subject.... the 8 sounds so far like the way to go .. may stick the 6 on the forums tonight and see what happens!

theres always someone on here willing to buy this sort of thing so hopefully il be fine and a few hundred quid better off by the end of the month!

im going to do a thread on how i have done my HC on a budget and how it turns out so hopefully might give a few others a bit of inspiration when doing theres!

If you do put this up on the classifieds and someone is looking for a cheap stand. Please point them in the direction of my pedestal stand on the classifieds now.

If your feeling Impulsive I knwo a man with a couple of VGA 'loop' though boards going for a good price so you can view your PC on all three simultaneously :)

£50.00 is mighty cheap for spraying a Panasonic bezel - stripping the bezel from the display and then stripping the front filter from the bezel is a nightmare.

    Best regards

    Joe
