As the title suggests, I have just bought a dmre55 and connected it to my pw6 via component connection. However, there appears to be reddish scan line type noise in the black areas of the picture.
I also have an old pioneer 747 dvd player and that exibits no noise at all.
Does anyone know about this problem with the dmre55?
Any help out there before I take it back?

I'll connect my DMRE55 to my component board tonight and let you know if i get the same problem.

Which terminal board are you using, or is it the VGA input you are using for component.
Have you checked that you have progressive scan enabled in the settings on the DMRE55?

    Thanks for the reply,
I'm using the dual slot board and the prog scan is turned on. If fact prog scan seems to make little difference to the problem.

It's definitely not a universal problem. For some installations, using the E55 to convert RGB scart from, say, sky, gives a rather dull picture, but I have not seen any problems like you describe. Dodgy cable? You could laso try re-seating the board if you are using one.

    Don't worry, it's all ok.
I had some of the levels in the advanced settings turned up too high.
Interesting that the interlaced picture on my pio 747 is much much better than the progressive picture from the panny e55.
    Thanks for the replys everyone!

And don't those speakers emit smoke during action movies? The 747 is likely to outperform the E55 even if you used s-video on the 747
