Word of warning for anyone thinking of buying from Digital-Point. Don't!!!

My PW6 buzzes like mad - It was picked up for exchange (I thought) but now they have said it has been tested by an engineer and is OK.

They are refusing to exchange or refund (I am within 7 days) and frankly their telephone manners set off my Pavlovian kill instinct. I have had the full range of tactics from - Being on hold for 30 minutes, being transferred between endless departments, being hung-up on etc

    Total crap - Avoid........... :censored:

SEND it back under distance regs and get a PW7 from av-sales or charcoal PW6....... their warranty extension is great VFM as well 3 years cover (total) £199 available for any screen under 3 months old too.

I don't have to send it back - They still have it (and my money!) I am refusing to take it back and leaving the refund bit to the HP company.

Just noticed somewhere else that you've just bought a PW6 from DP HornyDragon. There telephone manner is great when their selling you something and their shipping is very very good - Shame about the after sales though........

Hope it goes well for you.........

Wasn't just me that got the wrong end of the stick then :)

I am a bit worried about DP now too. They are top of my list for buying my PW6/PW7 tomorrow. Now might have to reconsider.

I'd also give my vote to AV Sales (bought my plasma from them). They arranged for next day delivery and phoned to let me know its on its way. They are also take great care of their AV forums customers as I assume they get loads of business from here. They aren't perfect, if you read the power buy thread they've had a few problems with damaged plasmas but this is where they really shine. Anyone can deliver a working plasma 90% of the time. It's when things go wrong that AV Sales comes into their own. They do everything possible to resolve it and don't just fob you off to someone else like other internet companies.

Just Ordered a PWD6 from avsales yesterday and should be with me on tuesday (they have to make up a vandamme lead for me which is why order is taking a little longer than usual)

I am really glad I ordered it from Avsales after now reading about digital point which I considered going with.

I hope you get it sorted Novaya!

Thanks - They still have the TV, still have my money. Refusing to exchange, refusing money back - and, get this, want to charge a fee for looking at the machine...what the fudge is that about? They had it back within a week for christ's sake! This is going to drag on and on - Thank god I didn't pay cash. :censored:

It's not gonna drag on, just inform your credit card company you returned the item within 7 working days of delivery and have not yet received the refund. Your credit card company have to credit the amount back to your CC immediately, while they investigate the dispute. As long as you have the delivery receipt both ways that you can send to your CC (as proof of return within 7 days)there is no reason to have any contact with the retailer ever again.

You don't need any reason to return online purchases within 7 working days, that's the law.

I agree with your reading of the distance selling law but many companies including home cinema heaven believe that the product must be 'unused' or they will be entitled to take 20%, (in some companies case less), as a 'restocking fee'.

Another condition they and others apply is - 'Any item returned due to the goods not being appropiate for the task ordered, miss-ordered, will be subject to a 20% restocking fee.

I went into Digital - Point (formerly Electro - Centre/ Premiere A/V) earlier on this week. I agree with everything that's been said.... They are a family firm and specialise in "box shifting" (judging by the brand new BMW M3 s parked outside, I think they're pretty good at it). Their "service dept." is a small room at the back of the shop.

They've been pretty rude and dismissive every time I've been in there.

On this occasion - initially, after being told by the rude young ladyboy in the shop that they only sold the PWD6 at £2500, he then went on to deny that they were offering them for far less on the web....

When I asked him about the PW7, he frantically walked away. On his return, he said that they "dont know anything about any PW7". I left.

The whole point of the 7 day return law is you don't have to argue with the muppets in the shop!
This is purely between you and the credit card company, you sent the goods back, the credit card money refund you the money, end of story.
If these guys want to make some sort of dispute with VISA, they will lose their ability to accept VISA. Not your problem at all.

THe board you have is the dual width component/svideo/composite one, right? If your DVD only outputs svideo and scart then you're stuck with svideo. Go with HDs advice - upgrade your DVD player to one with component out, then buy a component cable.

Component in on the board you have is the BNC type - so you'll need a cable with 3 RCA connectors on one end and 3 BNC connectors on the other. Or a standard RCA cable and some BNC convertors.
