There is indeed a shortage of component boards with RCA connectors as Panasonic have not had any now for a number of weeks. Component boards with BNC connectors are, however, readily available. There is no quality difference between the two boards - just the connection type. Sound & Vision should be able to source these and also provide the necessary cable you require i.e. 3RCA - 3BNC.

    Regards

I had horrendous problems getting one. In the end I went to Richer sounds in Watford and collected one of their two in stock last weekend. Call a richer sounds store and ask them to check group stock on the card. They have none in the warehouse, its just the stores. When I asked that, they found 5 in guilford, 2 in watford and a couple at a couple of other stores. You may be in luck if you are quick (and willing to travel as they won't post unless the warehouse has them).

Thanks for the replys chaps, the component board i ordered was part of the package deal i did with Sound & Vision so i got a good price, iv'e also had Mark Grant construct me a high quality RCA to RCA component lead so BNC would mean sending the cable back for alterations, i will wait a little longer see if these things eventually arrive???

    Thanx again

    Regards Dale

Yes i know what you mean i may have to go this route if the boards do not turn up, i was just curious if anyone else was having the same difficulty sourcing the Component boards, it seems that it is a problem at the moment, i will give them another couple of weeks then go for a BNC board.

    Regards Dale.

Whats the difference between RCA and BNC. My DVD player has component video out and it says Pr, Pa and Y next to them. My AMP also has component in/out with Pr, Pa and Y. Which type are they, RCA or BNC?

    none of the either

RCA and BNC refers to the physical dimendions/shape of the connection.

BNC is twist lock, RCA is just a typical plug

Your dvd player and amp will most likely NOT have BNC connections

so are the RCA connector ends the same as phono connectors? If I got a plasma with RGB scart socket could I get a cable that goes from RCA component to RGB scart to connect the component from AMP to Scart on the plasma?

I did get a good deal on the Component board despite the fact that i have not seen it yet, lol, since most people are struggling to get them i will hold out a couple of weeks more see what happens? Sound & Vision say they are waiting for the shipment from Panasonic Japan, odd though when there new PW7 has just hit the shops and uses the same board, you would think they would have adequate supplies?

    Regards Dale.

    matt,

rca IS phono. RCA (recording company) recreated them.

No, you cannot connect RGB scart to component, not in the way you mention. You need a component board on your plasma.
