    I have the above freeview box, and id like to transfer saved programs to my hdd on my pc, i notice the box has an RS-232C plug what is this for? can it be used for connecting to pc they are in the same room?

    Nope. Service use only. You'll need an analog video capture card on your PC. Unless you want to dismantle the Humax and remove its Hard Disk.

    Ive taken it apart plugged it into my pc, not finding it in 'my computer' but it is present in computer management, but the partition is not recognised, how do i go about get programs off of it?

    You cannot get programs off the Humax HDD. They use a special proprietry format.

    Just use a SCART cable to copy across to your recorder.
