What's the score with this - is it advice from the manufacturer? It would take me 6 months to clock up 200 hours.

Thanks people.I've seen this link but I was wondering where the advice comes from i.e. from the manufacturer - there doesn't seem to be anything in the blurb that comes with the TV??

    hiya seasider

I'm running mine in at the moment. The only advice on running in that i have seen is from this and other forums rather from Panny themselves. My view is that i'd rather risk that it's a waste of time, than not do it and risk the PQ and longevity. Does seem strange that they ship it in dynamic mode with 100% contrast, though.

I'm just leaving mine on overnight until 7am with the volume off, so in a couple of weeks it will have racked up the necessary hours. Worst ways, London Energy will have earned an extra fiver.

Is it a good idea to leave it on all day making sure there is no logo or anything on the channel to get to the 100/200 hours more quickly? Or would you only have it on while you were watching it?

    Thanks

You can run it in faster if you want, so then you can run a DVE disc and set it up, but if you are happy with the picture, just watch it as normal.

When I ran mine in I used Shrek DVD on repeat as it was full screen.

the only prob with leaving it to run...is the chance (however slim) that the dvd or sky freezes...i got mine up to 200 hours in about a month just having it on evening and weekends while we were around

Good point. I have deliberately left mine on BBC1 overnight to avoid channel logos, but hadn't thought of a risk with the TV signal, especially as the Telewest Service isn't, let's say, guarenteed....
