    Hey,

I have read a lot about the Panny PV500 and it seems to be the best plasma buy at the moment, but I dont really like the wide bezel and speakers. Is there a panel only version of it, dont really need speakers or tuner, just boards for component, scart and vga and later HDMI.

The new series 8 panels are out in September IIRC.

Is there gonna be much of a difference between series 7 and the new 8?

    PW8 coming in September/October

It will probably work out more expensive than the PV500 because the boards have to be bought seperately.

As an speculative indication reckon on

    Panel (includes VGA) - £2000
    SCART Terminal Board - £130
    Component Terminal Board - £130
    HDMI Terminal Board - £150
    Wall Bracket - £100
    TOTAL - £2500

You may find that competative retailers bundle in a free terminal board

    Cheers,

    Nigel

Doesn't PW8 have an SD res?
I thought PHD8 would be the panel only version of the PV500?

Hmm might just get the PV500 instead then and live with the wide bezel. Which panel is in the PV500 series 7 or 8, and if 7 does the coming series 8 mean that the PV500 is about to get replaced already?

No the PV500 is a series 8 panel - the TV version has been released ahead of the plain panel.

Well spotted. Its what I was thinking of but I got the letters wrong. The rest of my post does apply to the PHD8

    Cheers,

    Nigel

The change from 7 to 8 is quite considerable, the specs and brochures are ou there, there's a link in a recent thread, try a search. Some new stuff, and 50Hz compatibility improved.
