Girlfriend bought a pay as you go Nokia 6111 on Vodafone, she put in her pay as you go sim from her old phone thats on vodafone too, now the new phone just says insert sim or sim not ready etc, surely if both pay as you go on vodafone it should be just a case of switching sim cards?

    Any ideas please.

That means she hasn't put the sim in properly. With a 6111 you have to make sure that the sim sits properly where it's supposed to and the metal latch clicks when you slide it over. Otherwise the phone won't recognise the sim - as far as it's concerned you've not put the sim card in, hence the error message.

    HTH! :)

Have you tested other SIM cards (best if they're also Vodafone Pay As You Talk) in the 6111? if these fail too it'll pretty much confirm a handset fault / incorrect entry.

Also, does the SIM she's trying to use work in an alternative handset (again, a check to do to rule out a physical fault with the SIM card).
