I've got a new Philips 42FP9976 panel that exhibits a ridiculous purple tint on both inputs that are connected with component video cables. Even the letterbox bars are purple and not black. This behavior does not occur when things are connected via SD inputs (S-Video, for example).

The first device is a Sony DVD player (progressive scan, whathaveyou) and the other is a Samsung TS360 HD D* receiver.

I've mucked with some of the picture/color settings (but I'm very not good at this), but one notable thing...the tint control is dimmed. I've read about this, but I'm not sure what the significance is.

Thanks for any help people can offer...

Sounds like both devices could still be outputting RGB signal.
Check their settings. Probably have to turn RGB off and Comp on.

    Thanks for the reply...

At least on the satellite receiver I have the output set to Y/Pb/Pr (other options are DVI and RGB)...the DVD player is set to component out (otherwise would I get a signal?) and progressive scan.
The manuals for all these devices are awful...
