Finding it very difficult to get a demo of any arcam dvd players with crt screens. Most stockists use plasmas.I was wondering what is considered the best for picture quality using yuv.In my price range are dv88+,dv89,dv78.

The DV88+, DV89 and DV78 will be the same using component connections. There can't be many stores left now with any stock of DV88+s and DV89s as they have been discontinued for quite some time now. If you are using a CRT I would probably suggest using the DV78 as you are unlikely to see any differences between that and any other player on any CRT screen size. It's really only on larger screens, particularly projections screens whicha re 6' and larger that the differences in picture quality between certain models above it in the range becomes apparent.

If you are interested in the DV88+ and DV89 you might be able to pick up a bargain from Audio-Ts ex-demo stock. Take a look at their website in the 'Special Offers' section.
