Pure/Videologic Dab Tuner

Has any one got one of the new Pure/Videologic DAB tuners, I saw on at the show and was quite impressed with it, I have been waiting for Sony to bring theirs out in black but 3 years on it looks as though I’m out of luck.
Could you also tell me if information is given out on the display panel, of the track, being played comes up i.e. Artist and Song/Tune. I saw it on one of the portables on the Virgin station but when I tuned the system tuner to it did not come up all it was showing was Virgins Tel No and e-mail address.

I got one of the technics DAB's and it is excellent. It sounds great through my av amp.

Dpending on the radio station depends on whether song/artist is shown. Planet rock does.

I'm waiting for my order of the Pure DRX-701ES to come through from AVLand, but they always seem to be awaiting the delivery  .
I've almost given up hope, but I'll let you know if and when.

That seems strange as I saw the advert in last months in What Hi*Fi, and it was very prominently displayed.
How long have you had it on order?

It's been on order about a month. I've phoned and e-mailed them, and to their credit they did answer, but were having problems with their distributers or somesuch.
I've tried Superfi too with much the same result, but didn't order from them.
Shops in London don't have them either - basically no-one's got one!

Kevin - Have you tried Purley Radio? I think they're the best and most clued-up radio/tuner specialist in London. Can't remember their website address, but if you do a search for Purley Radio that should find it. I got a Pure 601 (the mains-portable job) from them when no-one else seemed to have it.

I've got an Arcam A10 DAB tuner at home (only a Denon TU260L II at Uni). It does wonders with stations like Radio 5, miles better and scroloing football scores or latest news. 5Live Sports Xtra is good for alternative football aswell.

It's worth putting up a proper DAB aerial also. I picked up 21 stations (low signal strength) before the aerial and now I can get 55 all with full signal.

Bernard, thanks for the suggestion, I may give it a try when my patience wears even thinner. Would be nice to have DAB for christmas, but my hopes aren't high. I've just about had it with AVLand - they've also had my order of the JB980 MD deck for months now, and I've seen them in the shops for not much more!

Cheers

Kevin, I was just in Superfi in Camden High St and noticed one on display - I asked what the stock situation was and the guy said they were selling like hot cakes, but they had five in stock. I think it was just under £250, in case you're interested.

Decided to give AV land another week or so, only because my Sony MDS-JB980 minidisc arrived from them at last.

I just phoned AVLand and they won't be able to deliver until the middle of next week now  .
Maybe I'm not missing out on much, I just read a news report saying the BBC have reduced the transmission bitrates for their digital radio channels, making them significantly worse than FM.

They (AVLand) always say they're waiting for the suppliers to deliver. It's B/S of the highest order IMO, and they're none too friendly about it either. I'm not going to use them again, that's for sure.
