I am thinking of purchasing a Toshiba 36ZP38B tomorrow - I have seen it on sale for £1238 (which includes VAT and delivery). Simple question - is it any good or is there a better 36" model available for not much more money!?

Advice very gratefully received. Many thanks.

There are two new 36 sets comming out from jvc and sony this month. I don't know how they will perform but they do have some interresting features. The jvc will be within your budget.

look at some of the posts in this forum and you will find more information.
I you want a bigger screen you might consider the rptvs.

The JVC is capable of High Definition Resolution at native 1125i through component inputs. Compared to toshiba's 480p nstc.

Seems more future proof. Available at cheapelectricals.co.uk.

If you can get a good one then the PD30 is an excellent TV.

It seems a bit of a lottery on quality control though - mine's going back shortly due to colour purity and convergence errors.

I demoed a 32PD30 and a Tosh PF2 side by side using a Sony DAVS550 via component NTSC progressive scan and some Pal discs (non progressive) also.

Both TVs were set at similar contrast/colour/brightness at we tried all the different 'processing' modes.

The PD30 was very dissapointing.... the Tosh was pretty good.

I was going to buy the PD30 but have now changed my mind.

Best option is to take your kit (DVD, PS2 etc) to a shop, ignore the funny looks and hovering salesmen, and try some out. I bet your surprised at the results.

    :)
