yup

game playing is so massive im always shocked to find how low ratings shows about the genra (sp) get and thus no advertising

they first cut down games stuff and added more cars & racing stuff, then even less games stuff and more adult themed stuff and now its predy damn poor

about 5 years ago we have the computer channel (i think thats what it was called) and that was good too

just shows how little people care about such stuff when the only show the bbc do is called "click" and is 20 mins long and on on something like a thursday night at 4am

but all i want from a games channel is normal games reviews with normal people doing normal stuff like iain lees thumb candy or the 3 girls who did a show they were all great

they either go too geeky or too uber trendy like with them 2 knobs that did sky ones rubbish show where it was more def jam then good gaming

though there maybe a a lot less gaming that means a lot less repaeats the only thing that changes is the chart every inside gaming or the match is a repeat you flick onto pulse every show that will be on it has been shown at least 50-100 times before and will be repeated still that why i dont watch anymore they just have the money to actually make some more episodes hence they show those absolutely :censored::censored::censored: car racing shows.

why did they get rid of gamesville?

Because it was an embarrassment to anyone who has an interest in gaming. There really should be a decent games programme on tv by now on one of the major networks, i'm suprised someone like Jason Bradbury (channel 5, gadget show, gaming fan) hasn't got a video games show.

The only games programmes that have been on tv recently that have been worth watching have been 'When Games Attack' on Bravo hosted by Dominik Diamond(legend) and 'Video Gaiden' on BBC

Xleague had the potential to be a good gamers channel when it first came on tv. I used to put the lack of programs and gaming down to it being new and needing to take off. I guess it's just never taken off then ?

GamerTV was always good on once a week for half an hour it had reviews, previes and a special feature but it was good.

Some video game show, which had three females.

That show was called Bitz and featured the extremely lovely Emily 'Bouffe' Booth.

She is now one of the presenters on Pulse...or at least she was. Havent seen her in a while as the only show I regularly watch is the fortnightly Gamesnight.

The commentators on this channel are legendary and have to be heard to be believed when they get excited! Very OTT with stuff like 'OH MY GOD THAT IS THE MOST AWESOME THING I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!!' - talking about a kill in Halo 3. My favourite was also on Halo 3 where the presenter wanted to use a tried and tested phrase but obviously couldnt decide between 'take the night bus home' or 'time for the long walk home' so instead he said that guy is going to 'take the long bus home'!:rotfl:

I too agree that it is strange why when the gaming industry is so massive these channels do poorly but Pulse are to be applauded for trying to lift it to the next level by featuring progs such as 'the match'.

although i cant stand the gadget show i really like jason and think he would be good at hosting a show with say domonik diamond in a kind of straight guy / funny guy formula with dom being a bit off the cuff and jason being more grown up

as the pair of them probably have more gaming & technology experience than most and left alone to do a 1 hour show once a week would be superb

not sure if dom would leave his radio show but its worth trying

id also throw in the stunning miss booth as she knows her stuff and is not there just as a pretty (allegedly) face like the bint on the gadget show who should stick to motorbikes

and no spotty youths and no 60 year old blokes going on about the psychology of gamers

have a small retro 5 mins

have a run down of charts

have a challenge of sorts

have a smal bit on latest pc hard ware

have a bit on stuff in development but dont do what the itv latenight rubbish with the annoying canadian bloke where they will spend the entire 23 min show going on about 1 damn game

come on jason sort it out

have it at 10pm on a thursday night and do what we want to see not what some tit straight out of college thinks would be good and dont pander to the trendy yoooths (ala joe pesci)

I'll tell you why gaming shows and gaming channels don't work:
  1. The Wii generation of viewers (in their millions) are too busy watching things like Britain's Got Talent.
  2. The hardcore gamers (the ones that actually matter) are too busy playing their games to be bothered to watch television.
  3. College and University students generally don't have televisions in their accommodation, let alone a satellite dish, to even watch the channel.
Which means you are left with the inbetweens - those who generally go out on a Saturday night, play the odd GTA4 and probably have to work or go to education during the day. This leaves very little people watching the channel, regardless of whether its good or not.

If you think about, if you were into pop music, would you be watching a channel on music 24/7 or would you rather listen to them on your iPod and go out to gigs to watch musicians/acts perform?

To my knowledge, Pulse is in the entertainment section of Sky - doesn't that seem odd if they were suppose to be a dedicated games channel?

Gaming is starting to appear on a wider variety of channels recently:

Eurosport 2 were showing the US gaming series

Rush HD has (almost) nightly gaming shows as well, but these have dropped off a bit in the last week or so.

Until Pulse get rid of 'Reviewmageddon', they can die in a fire.

The presenters of that show are a couple of inbred morons. It's so sloppily presented and quite frankly embarrasing to watch.

That said, I don't really care for gaming shows, although I do record GamerTV/Playr so I have something to watch when I'm up late with the screaming kid

What I never understood about these shows is why would you want to watch other people play games when you could play them yourself?

The reviews and features are sometimes cool, but watching a bunch of dudes sit around and play Fifa, COD, PGR etc.... now that's pretty mind numbing.

As for Emily Booth... she's done enough low-budget soft-core porn if anyone is missing their fix of her ;)

It's because people who are into games, want to play them. There's very little fun in watching people do what you could just be doing yourself.
