    Hi all

Im not much of a fan of dvd special edition extra's like :

    - Theatrical Poster 40" x 27"
    - Collectable Senitype

    etc etc

But what I really like are :

    - deleted scenes
    - documentaries

    And UNCUT versions!!!

Comparing the two region 2 versions to be released, the Spec Ed
has 4 deleted scenes on show, where as the Classic series box
set has 24 minutes of deleted scenes.

    Does 4 deleted scenes = 24minutes?

This movie has got to be the most difficult dvd decision to make!

    I'm refering to :
    http://www.playserver2.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=R2&title=104229
    http://www.playserver2.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=R2&title=104813

I haven't even begun thinking about region 1 version yet.

    What do you guys advise?

    Cya,
    Shaz

Never trust the specs that are on Play's website. Especially when the disks are still unreleased. You can't make comparisons and decide on purchase based on what Play tell you is going to be on them.

I don't think there will be anything extra on either of those anyway. In the boxset, apart from the inclusion of the CD soundtrack, I think the rest is packaging and physical extras, like with the recent Matrix boxsets. But perhaps I'm wrong.

On the uncut front, I wouldn't risk Pulp Fiction on R2 myself. That needle scene was even cut on R1 the first time it was released!! What are the chances of the BBFC letting it through this time?? They might but ..........

If I remember right from the vhs SE (that also had the deleted scenes with intro from QT) they aren't so much "deleted" scenes as extended scenes. The one with Butch (Willis) in the cab after the boxing match runs for around 10 minutes on its own, I think. I wouldn't swear to it, but that 24 minutes sounds about the same to me.
    I might be wrong though

You are right those on my US SE are just recycled from the old VHS, LD and old Canadian DVD (I had). All are very long scenes, you still get Quentin's intros and they are non-anamorphic w/s

Also would expect UK to be still cut as I thought drug use is the one thing they still very strongly object to.

what would be the best source of info for finding out the finer
details of what's on the discs. i wanted to pre-order the dvd.
i guess i can wait as its not a limited edition or anything.

dvdcompare.org is getting more and more minimilistic in their
dvd differences, they used to be quite reliable.

I find R2 Project very good r2-dvd.org especially if they have an early review of the title, also have good listings of press releases etc.

However for this title would suggest pre-ordering if you want the limited sleeve from a mail order rather than high street source.
A few weeks back Squirrel posted that he got the Rock 2 disk also a Disney release from Play but it no longer came with the sleeve only the amray case, whereas the sleeved version is still easy to find on the high street.

It says on play.com that Pulp Fiction is "Due for release on 03/09/2002". Is the correct.

Also, what is the chance of ordering Pulp Fiction from play.com and NOT getting the one that comes in the slipcased cardboard packaging.

Either. They change to cheapo packaging after the initial pressings have been exhausted and Play seem to exhaust them more quickly than others (because they're cheaper). If you pre-order or as soon as disk is released you should be fine with the packaging from Play. When I ordered the Rock and didn't get the black slipcover, it was many weeks after release. The later you leave it, the less chance you have of getting the original packaging but you're not likely to leave it that long anyway are you ;) Can always email Play to confirm before placing order as well.

    As above.
