just ordered one, but really want to know if anyone uses the Component inputs on this particular model. System Sound seemed to indicate they had a bit of trouble getting the inputs to work..
    Desperate to know it's okay..

I have a 5m Ixos component video cable and a Panny PT-AE100. It works fine.

Most DVD's look very soft using component video but that's probably the fault of the DVD disks themselves.

S-Video gives a sharper if grainier picture.

System sound only had R2 players there to use, and I think they 'may' be thinking along the lines of RGB rather than R1 component. I don't think they actually had a modifiable player in the shop anyway that could do component.

I won't be able to test component just yet from my Pioneer 737 as I'm skint for a few weeks. S video for now.

Tim, I'm looking at Lektropacks and their component leads. I e mailed them to see what they did and the said it is ref PAL4 at www.lektropacks.co.uk in the prolink range. 9m for me would be £64 + p&p. I thought about making my own, but for that price for 3 runs of cable, 6 connectors all at 75 ohm, it seemed ok.
However, their site does not 'state' it can be used for component (ie with sync on Green) but as video + 2 audio!

The prolink cables seem pretty good, I had a s-video cable from them in the pro link range, they were shielded, and the cable was marked for the correct direction.
The pal4 should be ok, you just wont get the colour coding.
Not sure if the sync should matter, thay are just phono cables after all.

    Tim,

Yes, that's what I thought, but I was just checking as I remember past posts about 'no sync' or something like that.
I have their pro link s video and composite leads on order to get here by the weekend.:D 1 S Video and 1 composite at 9m and a 1m S Video lead.
Haven't told the wife how much they cost yet.;)
Will order the component leads in a week or two.
    Screen first!

haven't sorted cables yet timh as at present my component goes through my PJ's HD15 so I spent best part of £100 getting a cable made up. Unfortunately that now seems obselete. Unless Panny takes component through HD15 as well..anyone know..
Svideo wont allow PS though will it.?

System sound were trying to make up a lead RGB to Component not Component to Component.
