Hey all,

My first build and looking for a little advice :)

I've a Cooler Master V850W SFX GOLD with a ROG STRIX B550-E GAMING motherboard
I was hoping the cables in the PSU would be a little more straight forward to someone like me but here goes.

There are 2x CPU cables - one has 8 pin and one has a split 4+4 pin

My motherboard has a 4 pin and 8pin socket.

Do I plug in the 8pin & split 4 pin and just leave the 4 pin socket hanging in the case or do I just install the 8 pin ?

That's what the split connector is designed for.

Depending on the power draw from your motherboard it may well be that only plugging the 8-pin in is also a viable option.

do you know how I confirm this?
Ive read multiple sites but seems conflicting - seems its worth the extra 4 like i've done if you intend to overclock etc...

Manual-

Do NOT connect the 4-pin power plug only
Ensure to connect the 8-pin power plug, or connect both the 8-pin and 4-pin power plugs

This sounds like both is fine, just looked odd have the splitter not in anything

Its fine. Just leave the odd splitter not doing anything. Not tidy but its ok.

I dont install more than 1 CPU power cable as its not required. Youll never get close to maxing out the power capacity of one CPU socket power unless youre doing extreme overclocking with a 12900K.

Ok thanks - might just leave both plugged in. Appreciate your input !!!
