What are your best settings for movies on your memory stick when using pspvideo9.
I've noticed that the upgraded version has some new settings.
    Video Settings Mode :- SP>CBR
    SP>FQ-VBR
    SP>A-VBR
    AVC-CBR
What do these mean & which is best?

Also anybody had a go with the PSPvideo9AVC program.

If so could this be a sticky because i'm sure that people would like to know what settings are best & would like to add the 2 cents !

If you do add your best settings, please add what size the file ended up at and a very small sample (if possible, "sorry if its rule breaking")

I've been playing round with the settings myself recently, and for me it's all a bit trial and error. I've got a 1GB memory stick, so I can put a bit on there but as always its getting the balance between quality and quantity right.

So far I've only been using the preset profiles, and I'm finding that the lowest watchable quality for a standard TV show (24, Band of Brothers) is the profile "368x208/29.97fps/QB7 Stereo/96kbps", which works out at about 200MB per hour, though this is a variable bit rate, so the size can vary. Pixellation is just visible, but not too off-putting. This means you can put about 4-5 hours of video on at once. If you go into the profile picker, you can see what settings this works out at.

You can put brightly coloured programs (like the Simpsons, Futurama) at a lower quality and they're still watchable. Hope this helps!

It was a high definition source which is why it looked so good, I think I used 368x208/29.97fps/QB7 I think..but there is a slight notice of frame drop so I reckon you should knock it down to 1.3mb/s

If you have 6 files from using DVDecrypter, you're not using it right. I get 1 file, which I just convert with PSP Video 9. Re-read the tutorial.

What size memory stick duo do you have, if its 1GB you need to turn off file splitting (Set to None), if its a 512mb and you film is bigger set it to 512mb and it will split the film in two.

Ive got a 1gb so dont bother with the file splitting as its a pain watching one half of a movie then uploading the second half etc..

I use DVD Shrink, find it easier than decrypter. You can select which audio tracks and subtitles (if any) to export and edit the credits off before exporting.

PSP Video 9 has a new version (v 1.62) and the settings have changed as from 1.6x the QScale values aren't the same as previous versions. I used to use QScale 4 and find i get similar sized files but much better quality using AVC (FQ i think) QScale 23.

As far as i understand it PSPvideo9AVC has had it's functions (more or less) intergrated into PSPvideo9 now.

i've just updated to v1.70 and am now having problems. I have my same profile, but now when i try and 'transcode' i get a fail message, then generating thumbnail message, then complete message and a puny 0 byte file in my folder that I can't play.

as far as i can see the only new/altered setting is the mode selector - is this or am i doing something else stupid?

not to sound too old or anything, but i liked it how it used to be in the good old days (or about 30 minutes ago)

Try creating profile again. Upgrading deletes saved profiles.

At least the conversion screen is improved, so you'll know how long it'll take
