    Hi,

My kids were given a new PSP as a present from their Aunt (bought in Dubai).

The kids tried to upgrade the firmware (I think) but now the PSP just shows a black screen - does not boot.

I tried Sony UK support and they wanted to charge £118 to repair it (because its Japenese) and said there was no way for me to do this or get it repaired else where! This sounds like a Sony money spinner to me!!

Is this for real? Has anyone got any ideas what I may be able to do to get this one working? taking it back to the shop is not really an option.

    Thanks

Thanks - I did this after posting the thread..it seems there is nothing else to do but replace the motherboard on the PSP.

    Repair costs approximately all aroun£90!

Probably better to buy a new UK one!

    Thanks again
    :(

Buy a new UK one (£150ish) and sell yours as damaged on ebay.
