Trying to link my Jap PSP to my laptop but when I connect the two via a usb cable, its showing 'device not recognized'
Any ideas on how to solve this so it works or do I need software???

    Thanks in advance!

You need Windows XP or 2000, updated to the latest Service Pack as far as I know. I know mine worked right away, and it's a JAP PSP.

I had the same problem for a bit but it seemed to sort itself out, I did change the cable as I was using a USB 1 cable and the problem has not come back (touch wood).

I don't think it was the cable causing the problem but if yours is a cheapy then I would recomment buying a USB 2.0 stamped one. I am using Windows XP with service pack 2 FYI.

Another thing that did seem to make it work (although again I can't promise that this will solve the problem) was plugging in the power lead before connecting the USB cable.

I don't know what actually solved the problem but these seemed to help - don't shoot me down if they don't work for you.

    Regards

Try connecting it to another pc. This should tell you if it is a problem with your laptop, or the cable/psp.

This might seem obvious but you haven't mentioned selecting the USB Connection on the PSP after attaching the cable to your computer. The computer should then recognise the PSP.
