I installed the latest firmware onto my Jap PSP and when I charged the battery fully, it reported that 100% charge equalled almost 10 hours worth of use.

I have been playing Spiderman 2 at the moment and am down to 73% battery level, yet it's reporting just over 6 hours worth of use.

I have had my PSP since March and have never before seen the battery level report this, Are other users getting the same results? or is this likely to be considered an anomaly/ bug etc?

Or is it possible that Sony have improved battery life through better software? I have a 512mb stick as well.

Any comments appreciated from other users who have upgraded to 2.50.

I have no interest at the moment in homebrew, and will certainly be getting the Location Free Base station when it's released here in the UK(unless someone can confirm the USA version would work OK..!)

    Look forward to any replies

According to the SONY web site, firmware version 2.5 is only for the NA version and should not be used on any other versions of the PSP, Has anybody else here upgraded there JAP PSP with firmware version 2.5

I did not download it from any website, I did a network update via the option on the PSP itself, and it reported a newer version of software than what I was running.

If you are unsure and have the facility, check via your PSP and use the info that it gives you.

Both JAP and US PSP's have the 2.5 firmware to download. Not sure about the EURO ones.

I haven't updated my psp yet, but i know various updates for my mp3 player (iRiver H340) increased the battery life significantly, so it is possible via firmware upgrades.
