PS5 no longer outputting 120FPS/120hz

Just turned my PS5 is no longer letting me set to more than 60hz/60FPS. I have a hdmi 2.1 cable and compatible screen. I’ve even tested this by putting the same hdmi into my Xbox series x and that allows 120fps. Really odd as it definitely used to. Any ideas?

I thought it generally depended on the game. I have a 1080p 120fps monitor and it always shows as outputting 4K 60fps unless the game changes that to 1080p 120fps.

On the home screen it would normally say 120 FPS in the game mode settings (does on the Xbox series x) but this may have been changed then? It definitely used to. I’ll load up a 120fps game and see if it adjusts. Thanks

For me it only shows that if the game is running 120fps.

For example, I run Dirt 5 in 120fps. The dashboard shows 60fps before booting the game. Once the game is running, if I then go back to the dashboard and check, it shows 120fps.

You were both correct. It does show 120fps when in game. It definitely did on the homepage but doesn’t no longer but no issue at all. Thanks both

If you have an LG TV you can repeatedly press the green button and bring up the frame rate stats

IS 120hz mode set to automatic in the settings or set to on, it may be if set to Automatic it will only show 120Hz if the game does, when set to on it might show it on the Homescreen as well, I can't say for sure as my TV doesn't support 120hz so just a guess on my part.

It would be nice if the PS5 could switch to 4K 120 Hz mode for all games as there is no reason why 60 fps and even 30 fps games cannot run with a 120 Hz refresh like they do on Xbox Series SX. This would also reduce controller input latency.

But, you know, Sony are Sony and always do things their own way and takes ages doing it… cough*VRR where are you*cough
