John Lewis have a good deal on both of these sets at the moment.
Can I possibly get comments on both sets.

Not to fussed about the free recorder with the panny but if its a better screen then I can use the recorder elsewhere. The Samsung would ppear better just because it was a much higher price to being with (get what you pay for?)

From my initial findings it looks like the Samsung is better on paper with HDCP and a DVI connection and the panny not having either (according to their site). But as well all know its not down to the paper specs but what they perform like.

    Comments on both please :)

Thanks for the HDCP update, I only found that info on the Comet site so wasnt sure anyway!

So on that note you are pushing the panny out of the two I take it.

I am starting to like the panny after some more research, any bad comments?

If i had to choose again out of those two the panny would win.

I've ordered a TH37PE50 with free DVD recorder from John Lewis today, as everywhere else had no stock. The 5 year guarantee on the screen and the 2 year guarantee on the DVD recorder are excellent.

They are going to deliver it next week on Friday!

after reading your first post again, it may be better for you to wait till next month and get a demo of the panny pv500 (looks like you want hdtv/hdcp compatible screen).

Do we have a price projection on a 37" PV500 if there is going to be one?

I have seen the 42" PV500 comming in at 2k ex vat but would be more interested in the 37".

How much are you willing to spend? Does it have to be bought from John Lewis?

If you have any regard for PQ whatsoever, avoid the samsung. I swapped mine for a PWD6 and cannot begin to explain the improvement.

Deff doesnt have to be brought from John Lewis at all, am willing to shop anywhere.

I havent set myself a budget yet as I would rather see what sort of prices are available on the 37" and 42" and then go from there.

    Hi,

    Try www.totaldigital.biz

Ive just ordered a TH42PE50 for £1560 inc delivery and free pedestal stand.
I think the 37" is about £1300 with free pedestal or wall bracket.

Ive never used them before but they seemed fine on the phone.Fingers crossed.
