PS3 wont play games or BluRays

Hi, I have a PS3 60 gb which has developed a problem with games and Blu Ray discs (normal DVDs wok fine).
After about 5 minutes the game or bluray freezes and cannot be restarted. When trying to load disc again it comes up with an error code and will not work until turned off at back switch and left for a while. Anybody had this problem and any possible fixes?

I suffered this with 2 x 60Gb PS3s before i traded in my last 60Gb for a PS3 slim.

Your blu-ray laser has died, you need to replace it or pay Sony >£100 for a replacement refurbished PS3
