PS3 Video Media Question

This is probably a really dumb question, but please stay with me.

I just recently got a external hard drive to store all my anime on so i could watch them on my ps3. The avi's work fine and all, but for stuff like one piece which is a mp4 and requires the haali splitter to work it says unsupported format (or something like that)

Can i download cccp and haali splitter to my ps3 much as I can on my computer, so i can watch all my anime on my ps3?

And if so how do I do that? Is it as simple as simply going online with my ps3 and dowloading them like i do on my computer?

No you can't do that.

Install PS3 Media Server and stream them, or try and convert them to another format, MP4 is notoriously annoying to play on the PS3..
