PS3 Region-Free Blue Ray Playback

Little bit of a noob question but stay with me here.

When DVD players came out in the 90s the region coding swiftly became a farce as most players could be shipped or chipped region-free. I realise that the PS3 is region locked with only 3 regions now but what is the likelyhood (if it hasn't happened already) of users being able to get their units modded to play all video regions' films?

Ah, just noticed somebody else has posted less than an hour ago the same question so I'll watch that thread intently as well

Unlikely for a while at least. The BD region coding has been implemented straight away unlike with HD-DVD, hence why it is currently region-free. I have no idea as to whether there will be a mod in the future and how easy it will be to do, but I wouldn't bank on it.

Give Hong Kong a few months, I'm sure they'll come up with something ;)
Besides I actually prefer my JP version because now I can order BDs from USA which are much cheaper.
