Does it need a mandatory install before calculating anything?
Yeah but...does it play Doom?
Seriously though, what does "monitor the US nuclear stockpile" mean?
I hope it doesn't mean....
"Anyone seen where it went"
Probably monitor the nukes as they fly over to Iran knowing the Americans
I like to think we all live in a world where no one wants to have a nuclear war!
Can't they just use it to play chess or something like that
if that thing starts making killer cyborgs we will be in big trouble.
Just goes to show the potential of the PS3
Haha, yeah, the 'potential' of the PS3. Try over 500,000 PS3s and you're getting close.
What BBC also deem unimportant is that the Roadrunner Cell processors have been tweaked, so they're not the same as the ones found in a PS3.
Don't get me wrong, setting this kind of record is very impressive, but this means nothing overall to the gaming industry.
Apparently the UK's next military satellite system is called Skynet
(apologies for off topic)
As far as I'm aware, it's the otherway round, the Cell processor in the PS3 is a slightly locked down version, (with 1 of the SPE disabled,).
Do computers need to be that quick just for astronomy and climate change?
You should see how fast this thing can run with its petaflops...
Hopefully it is used to stop Bush pressing the wrong button... I wonder if he has a Six Axis to hand, will it have rumble for impact effect???
Now that is just asking for trouble
Well it's postponed, but I'm sure that 'They'll be back!'
Funny they chose that name though, wonder if the Terminator movies were true and james cameron is actually a cybernetic organism from the year 2029 ........ my god i'm a geek
Anyway back on topic.... Petaflops, no idea what they are
Separate names with a comma.
