PS3 Onkyo TX-SR706 Always Multich

I have always had my PS3 slim output bitstream so that it shows up on my amp Dolby Digital or DTS etc. Never had a problem since i replaced my fat with a PS3 slim.

But now, when i play DD51 or DTS films, and also any games that are DD, it only shows Multich.

Now I have checked and double checked that i have HDMI setup to output bitstream and that the audio settings on the 706 are DD for DD soundtracks and likewise for DTS - BUT DTS shows as DTS on the 706 but DD shows as Multich :(

WHYYYYYYYY?!?!?!?!?!?!

It sounds great but if I can improve it I'm very interested !!

It might help if you posted your actual settings so that people can compare them to see if something is amiss. There is a sticky post in the Onkyo owners forum for setting up the PS3.

http://www.avforums.com/forums/onkyo-products/696423-faq-setting-up-ps3-onkyo-amp.html

I have posted my actual settings, what have i missed out that is required?

I read the above link originally when setting up my PS3 (very useful), i have checked the setup again against that post, i can only assume that it is a setting on the Onkyo that is at fault.

Any ideas anyone?

Cheers

another thing to try is to go to your audio settings menu and untick all the multichannel pcm boxes and see what happens.
