PS3 not working

How do you expect anyone to fix it if you didn't say what is wrong with it

Are you sure it's 2 beeps..the beeps and red flashing light are internal component failure, and/or overheating.

Either way, it's similar to the YLOD, and a stripdown and replacement of the thermal paste/general dust out, may bring it back to life for a while, but there's no 100% repair, other than a paid for replacement from Sony - which is a brand new motherboard/internals, etc.

The other repairs are usually just botch jobs, or as above, stripping it down, cleaning it out, and replacing the paste, but the problem is uncertain, so it may be that, a combination of that and failure of components, or internally you have something broken inside the motherboard.

The refurb from Sony is around £130 or thereabouts.

You could fix it up, get his data off it, and either sell it, or he could get it repaired, and use it as a second/be generous and pass it on. lol.

Search this forum for 'ps3 & hairdryer', it's something that can be easily done at home without even taking anything apart. It might work/it might not (it did for me). If it does however, it might stay working for months, or it might be only a few seconds, seeing as it's bricked anyway there's nothing to lose
