PS3 Missing Folders from Media Server.

Hi,

I connected a new NAS to home network to be my Media Server, the PS3 picked it up all fine, but I had to organised my folders on my Media Server so moved things about. This is when I notice the PS3 no longer displayed these folders. After a bit of testing I found if I moved or altered the folder like renaming it, the PS3 could no longer see it.

It just seems to see anything that is where and what it was at the time the PS3 first connected to my Media Server. I tried turning PS3 off and reconnecting, turning the server off and on, but still no luck. The PS3 even shows an old name for a folder which is changed on the actual server. Look everywhere for some sort of refresh/reload but can't find anything.

Anyone have any idea?

Thanks

As well as the physical files/folders on your NAS you will also have a DLNA/UPNP streaming application running on the NAS. This is the method the PS3 uses to access the NAS; a PS3 doesn't simply browse folders on the network it accesses folders that are advertised by the DLNA/UPNP streaming application on the NAS. With the exception of PS3 Media Server all DLNA streaming apps work like this.

Within the NAS streaming application there will be an option to re-scan or refresh the local folders on the NAS it is advertising to devices on the network.

Access to the Streaming APP on the NAS is usually somewhere within the NAS Web interface.

OK thanks I'll look into it. I have a Buffalo Link Station, have looked over there web interface yesterday when got it, but will look specifically for this. I assumed it should just display whatever is on the media server regardless. (which contain compatible file types)

No..only PS3 Media Server (PC/MAC/Linux app) uses realtime display of media.

All the other streaming apps employ a folder scan method....
